Wilson’s talk: “Bending the Arc Towards Justice: Transforming Public Health Through Community-Engaged Research and Practice” described how historic and contemporary discrimination and racism drives environmental, climate, and energy injustices and related health issues.
In this talk, Professor DeFries outlined scientific investigations aimed at addressing two urgent environmental issues in India: climate-smart agriculture that provides nutrition and a resilient food supply and landscape connectivity for wildlife in the face of rapid infrastructure expansion.
December’s Collaboration Series session took the form of a speed-networking workshop aimed at creating fast, focused interactions between researchers who were interested in the intersections of biodiversity, urbanism, human health: “Enhancing nature in cities for people and wildlife.”
